We woke up to drizzle so we didn't hurry breakfast. Nevertheless we still managed to leave our phone chargers behind at the B&B. (We didn't realise until this evening.)
We ignored the weather and drove to the aptly named Sky Road at Clifden. Even in the foggy drizzle it was spectacular.
Then we started the shortish drive towards Westport during which Lyn developed an interest in the triffid-like plants lining the road and (later) the painted sheep.
At Connemara National Park we stopped for a walk through the bog. This was peaceful and beautiful and much more interesting than it sounds. Lyn did the 1.5 km stroll and I did the 3.5 km walk. I looked longingly at the 7km hike over the crest of Diamond Hill but decided that discretion was the order of the day.

We drove on to Kylemore Abbey, which is stunning but we decided not to invest 26€ on a walk through its gardens.
Our next stop was Ireland's only fjord at Killary Harbour. There we met a rare thing on this trip - two other Australians. We compared notes and took photos for each other. The oddest thing was the "fairy tree" covered with pieces of clothing left for luck.
After a couple of stops for sheep photos we arrived in Westport - which appears to be both trendy and the hen party capital of Ireland. It was also a Saturday night so we got rejected by about 6 restaurants before we got lucky. Awesome pizza and good cheap wine and the world is good.
Hi happy travellers, the sheep would have been raddled for a purpose, they do look funny.
