Protestants, Cliffs and Saint Columba

We drove through fog almost as far as Sligo where it lifted enough to divert to Parkes Castle on Lough Gill. (Technically it is an early 17th century fortified manor house ... oh god sometimes I bore myself.) Anyway it is pretty but closed. Lough Gill is interesting because it represents the geological boundary between ... oops, doing it again.

We got to Donegal early enough to drive out to Slieve League; stupendous sea cliffs best viewed in sunshine in the late afternoon.  We got lucky. Just wow!

We drove on to Glen Cholm Cille which was my nod to St Columba. Amazing scenery on the way back to Donegal but every random side road is like that.

At our B&B we booked in for a posh dinner - our first for the trip. As we'd spent very little all day we are feeling stuffed and smug.
