Kinsale

We began the day by defying convention by discussing BOTH politics AND religion at breakfast with our hostesses and a couple from Massachusetts. We all agreed pretty much. Americans we meet, and there are many of them here, are decent and courteous. All the crazy ones mustn't travel.
We did a pleasant guided walking tour of Kinsale, had a great lunch from a deli, and collected our laundry.

The afternoon was spent at Charles Fort, one  of two massive 17th century star forts built by the English after the Spanish attempt to invade Ireland here. We had a lovely ramble in the sunshine and then walked back to town.

We stopped for beer and prosecco at 'The Spaniard' along the way.

Our incredible luck with the weather continues. Lyn is going to mass tonight and we will have a quiet night in.

Last night we had dinner at Kitty O'Shea's. Neither of us are big fans of the Irish music which features here. You know the sort:
Yo ho we're off to California / Australia / etc
Leavin' behind Ireland / Eileen / me mother
Oh my lover has gone away to be a sailor / soldier / work for a living
When will he come back ...
