There are 3 volcanoes outside our front windows. Count 'em.
Today we backtracked to Taupo and then followed the Eastern shore to Turangi. There we stocked up on groceries and drove further South into the Tongariro National Park. We saw a sign that said Scenic Lookout and found this spot looking out over Turangi, the Tongariro River and Lake Taupo.
We are staying in "The Hut" at Wood Pigeon Lodge, Raurimu. The view is as above. Despite appearances, and our expectations, it even has wifi.
It also has alpacas and a distinctive letter box.
Lyn needed a rest after today's drive. I think we'll be doing plenty of relaxing and napping.
