With the train travelling at just under 300 km/hrs we arrived in two hours. Our taxi driver in Lyon sounded his horn at every failing, real or imagined. We reached our bnb to find the cleaning lady still at work. We went to the information centre and the supermarket and returned to our apartment. At the information centre there is a statue of Paul Bocuse to remind you that Lyon considers itself the gastronomic capital of France.
We decided on excursion across the river and up the hill to the Basilica of Notre Dame de Fourviere.
This involved Lyn braving the funicular which goes through a tunnel! (She really is getting braver.)
The church is all glittery - sort of faux Byzantine and faux Romanesque - in a good way.
Outside, it was built to impress.
We headed back to the apartment to wash clothes and grapple with unfamiliar appliances.
