Next day our Nissan Cherry arrived and Lyn, intrepid person, set
out on her search for the perfect goat picture. The first aim was to drive to
Phaistos. We accomplished this without incident (except for goat stops) but, of
course 01/01/87 – it was closed.
I peered longingly over the fence at the remains of the Minoan palace, and then we drove on.

So after a rest it was off to Agios Nikolaos – which was pretty but
largely closed. A hotel was eventually found. Here Lyn tried the stewed greens
and I tried Metaxa. The greens were ghastly. The Metaxa was at least warming.
